What to do with husbands old baby pics..calling all scrapbooking pro’s!?
Ok, let me give you the details….My husbands family lives about 300 miles away from us. Upon visiting them this christmas I took home a slew of old family photos. His mom just had them in a big box and didnt care what I did with them…well, I took them home hoping to make photo albums for her that way she could acctually see the pictures in staed of storing them in boxes. Here is my problem…I would like to give all the originals back to her, keep some copies of my husbands pics for myself and also be able to put some sort of album together for his brother ( two of them)…Is there anyway i can do something that doesnt cost me a ton of money, and doesnt involve alot of cutsy stickers and special supplies? I need some orginal ideas …. do i just make 1million color copies of every pcture?? help me!
If you make a layout, you should be able to take that page to a copy center and they can make great copies for you. Then you can decide who keeps the originals and who has a copy. If more family members want them in the future you are better off keeping the originals yourself. As for not using Cutesy stickers you can group them in subjects or any order that suits them. You could double mount one on a page, choosing one that is a favourite or is the main focus of that grouping and single mount the others. If they are black and white use black as a background and double mount white and black. You can make it look nice with good titles and lettering.

Scrapbooking is just one way of keeping these mementoes alive and presenting them in an artful way. Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Typical memorabilia for scrapbooks are printed media, artwork, and of course, photographs. Scrapbook albums are often decorated with various embellishments.
History of Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking is a widely practiced pastime not just in the United States, but also in other parts of the world. It has its history in 15th century in England. Commonplace books were a way of compiling information that included but is not limited to, letters, poems, quotes and recipes. In the 16th century friendship albums became the trend. These were often created as souvenirs of tours in different places. Photography then became available and the brownie camera invented by Kodak came into mass production. This camera was inexpensive and simple, even a child can operate it. This allowed the average person to incorporate photographs into their scrapbook albums.
An old scrapbooking album generally had photos mounted with photo mount corners and notations of who was in the photo or where it was taken. They also often included bits of memorabilia like tickets, newspaper clippings and other things.
How to Decorate Scrapbook Pages
Decorating album pages is one of the biggest jobs when it comes to scrapbooking. This is what makes the scrapbook personal and special. There are numerous ways of decorating a 12×12 scrapbook album or albums of any size, for that matter. There is also an abundance of materials available for scrapbooking enthusiasts to use. Learn how to decorate albums to make it stand out among others.
· Decide on a theme. Plan the themes in advance so that you can have an idea of what items and embellishments to purchase. This can help decide what decorating supplies and scrapbooking tools are needed. If your theme is Christmas then you can use plotter paper and Christmas. If you are making baby scrapbook albums then [perhaps you can purchase pictures of baby shoes and the likes.
· Get the right decorating supplies. Always use acid-free items. This will help keep the quality of your scrapbook. These items will cause the least amount of damage to the scrapbook pages and photos throughout the years.

1. Use a good quality album. The scrapbook album is the single, most important material for keeping precious memories. It is the backbone of the entire collection. It is the framework in which you house your memories. There are many choices when it comes to albums. Most modern scrapbooks are rectangular, the size of a piece of paper (8 1/2×11″), or they can be square. Selecting the size is a matter of personal choice. Just keep in mind that smaller sizes are more portable and larger ones allow to use more decorations. Make sure to purchase scrapbooks with good quality so that they can last the test of time. It might be a little pricey but you will get your money’s worth.
2. Be careful. Spillage is the worst thing that can happen to your albums. Keep your albums away from liquids. They will not only spoil the album cover, they will also destroy the pictures and other memorabilia. Make sure that your working area as well as any place where you will be putting your scrapbook is clear of any liquids.
3. Prevent fading. Putting your albums under direct sunlight will fade the cover and reduce the quality of the scrapbook itself. Surface changes will also be changed by extreme temperatures.
